Women of the House: Betty Sutton and Emilia Sykes

In 2006, Betty Sutton became the first 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ alumna to serve in the U.S. Congress, when she was elected to represent Ohio’s 13th District in the House of Representatives. Sixteen years later, 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ alumna Emilia Sykes, a native of Akron, Ohio, was elected to represent the same district, making her the first Black 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ alum to serve in the House of Representatives.
