In 2006, Betty Sutton became the first 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ alumna to serve in the U.S. Congress, when she was elected to represent Ohio’s 13th District in the House of Representatives. Sixteen years later, 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ alumna Emilia Sykes, a native of Akron, Ohio, was elected to represent the same district, making her the first Black 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ alum to serve in the House of Representatives.
