91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ University’s College of Nursing recently received a grant totaling $165,000 from Peg’s Foundation, formerly the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation, a private grant-making foundation that supports mental health programs in Northeast Ohio.

91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ Healthcare Design Researcher Receives $2.47 Million to Design Safer and More Efficient Level I Trauma Rooms
Traumatic injuries are the third leading cause of death nationally and the first in Americans age 44 and younger, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Level I trauma rooms are intended to stabilize and save the lives of patients with the most severe traumatic injuries. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has awarded a $2.47 million grant to Sara Bayramzadeh, a 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ University researcher, to help create trauma rooms that support staff in saving patients’ lives.

In the spring of 1970, two-time 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµ University alumna and registered nurse Pat Gless was a junior in 91Ïã½¶ÊÓÆµâ€™s inaugural nursing program. While in class on Monday, May 4, a professor rushed into her classroom and warned students who could leave campus to do so. Fifty years later, Gless now reflects on the events surrounding that tragedy and how they have impacted her life and nursing career.
