Inspiration, Anxiety, Recovery

“It was my sophomore year in college when it began. Sitting in a classroom, riding on a bus, being in a movie theater, eating at a restaurant---all became anxiety triggers. It was a sense of being “trapped” in a place that caused me to be so anxious.  I would get an overwhelming sense of HAVING to leave the place. I can’t even begin to describe the terror—loss of control, heart racing, feeling like I was going to die—that would come over me. I felt so alone. People around me didn’t talk about anxiety. We didn’t discuss mental health. Fortunately, I was taking a psychology class and learned that there is help available. If I hadn’t received helped, I would not be where I am today.

Although it may not always seem like it, things will get better. You are not alone. Help is available. Recovery is possible.”
