Dear Students,
I hope that your first week of remote courses has been off to a good start!
I am writing today to share that unfortunately; the University has ultimately decided that travel to Florence will NOT be permitted for the Spring 2021 semester due to the current state of the pandemic in the US and abroad. Therefore, students should plan to complete their coursework entirely through remote instruction for the duration of the semester.
Please be advised that while the flow of the semester is slightly different (with spring break still being held after the final exam week), the important dates related to course add/drop/withdrawal still follow the same calendar as the 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ University campuses. As a reminder, the last day to add a full semester course is this upcoming Monday, January 25. You may find all the add/drop/withdrawal deadlines for courses through the Registrar's website /registrar/spring-important-dates.
It is advised that all students meet with their academic advisor and talk with the One Stop prior to adding, dropping, or withdrawing from courses as this may impact degree progression, financial aid, and tuition reimbursement.
Reminder of Florence Spring 2021 Remote Academic Calendar
Detail | Dates |
---|---|
Classes Begin (remotely) | January 19, 2021 |
Classes End | April 28, 2021 |
Final Exams | April 29-May 5, 2021 *No classes/exams occur on May 4, 2021 |
Spring Break | May 6-May 12, 2021 |
While travel will not be permitted to Florence, students will still be provided with additional opportunities to engage through the Florence program in ways that are academically enriching and culturally relevant. Optional events will be planned throughout the semester including virtual opportunities and some activities that students may complete on their own time. Dates, times, and how to connect will be shared with students within the coming weeks. In addition, students will also maintain access to the 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Florence blackboard site, where students can find many ways to learn about Florence and Italian culture. This will also be updated throughout the semester.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Best,
